Who We Are

Who We Are And Our Aims. ADHD Australia Incorporated’s (Inc) concerns are to promote awareness of ADHD, to encourage self awareness of those who have ADHD, to give information about ADHD and some of the possible comorbid disorders which can coexist with ADHD. And to do so in a manner which the average lay person would understand.

ADHD Australia Inc as a Tax Deductible Gift Recipient aims to assist children with ADHD from economically/socially-
depressed environments financially, in following their own particular medically endorsed treatments.

We noticed there was a lack in existing sites in Australia offering scientific evidence that ADHD is a valid disorder. We aim to narrow this gap. Giant Lilly

We present this information in a manner, which does not require any scientific or medical type training to understand. Thus this site contains information, which we hope is interesting and helpful to any layperson who wishes to enquire about or understand more about ADHD. These could be parents, a person with ADHD or any other interested party who is wondering what ADHD is, and would like a better understanding of ADHD.

This written information has not received any accreditation or confirmation in regard to accuracy by any relevant medical professional.

This layperson has a B.Sc (twenty five years ago) where she studied microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology and who has devoted some time researching a vast quantity of information about ADHD. While this previous education and her own experiences with ADHD may assist with her interpretations, it does not make her medically knowledgeable at all, or correct in her interpretations. Her interpretations cannot replace those of a medical professional.

We would strongly encourage any site visitor to raise any medical type issues they may have, whether they be physical or mental with a physician. We urge this particularly strongly. For example a sibling of one of ADHD Australia’s committee members, lost his life due to not consulting his doctor in a timely manner and wrongly diagnosing himself via the Internet for some eighteen months (cancer – for the curious).
